When it is Tom Cruise in an action or adventure film, it definitely means surprise. Sometimes jumping from one floor of Burj Khalifa to another, sometimes hanging from the door of a flying airplane, Tom Cruise’s breathtaking stunts done by himself have been mesmerizing audiences for years.
Now the megastar is going to surprise them more, something out of the world, literally. For the first time in Hollywood history, an action movie is going to be shoot on space! So far such scenes of space or other planets in films were used to be done in built-up sets in ususal studios.
The Tom Cruise starred film is going to be shoot in the ‘International Space Station’. US space agency NASA is currently working with Tom Cruise for it’s necessary preparations. Cruise is also collaborating with Elon Musk’s space agency Space X for the film. Musk commented on the project, “should be a lot of fun!”
Though any more details about the film hasn’t been disclosed yet, it is learnt that the movie is not going to be a part of ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise.
Nasa administrator Jim Bridenstine Tuesday in a tweet said, “Nasa is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station!”
Tom Cruise had previously portrayed the role of an astronaut in his 2013 film ‘Oblivion’. He was seen there saving earth’s natural resources from invader aliens. Before that Cruise narrated the 2002 space documentary ‘Space Station 3D’.
Four most daring stunts done by Tom Cruise
In the crowd of Hollywood action heroes, Tom Cruise definitely is an exception. That’s because Cruise does almost each and every stunts of his films by himself, while most of the other actors relay on professional stuntmen. Let’s have a look at the four most deadly stunts in Tom Cruise’s career. Coincidentally, or may be not, all of them are from ‘Mission Impossible’ series.
1. Jumping from a roof to another
In ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ of 2017, Tom Cruise had to jump down from a building top to another lower roof quite far away. Cruise broke his ankle during the fall. But the super-professional actor didn’t tell anyone until the entire shot was completed.
2. Climbing and jumping from Burj Khalifa
In the 2011 film ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’, Tom Cruise performed a scene of climbing through the top floors of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on earth. Later he jumped from an apartment window to another floor located much down and far. Though Cruise took 4 months of training for the scene, the extreme wind up there caused disruption during the shoot. However Tom Cruise patiently waited and finished the shot.
3. Hanging from a running plane’s window
In the beginning sequence of the 2015 film ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’, Tom Cruise jumped on the wing of a running aircraft. When the plane took off, Cruise was hanging from the plane holding the door with bare hands. He kept hanging even in the sky until the door was opened. Tom Cruise performed the shot total four times in two days. Each time the runway had to be thoroughly cleaned so that stones or any particles can’t hit and injure Cruise during the shoot.
4. Climbing through a mountain and jump
In the 2000 movie ‘Mission Impossible 2’, Tom Cruise climbed up through a steep rocky mountain. After a while, Cruise jumped from an edge of a cliff and reached another, apparently with no ropes. The shot was so nerve wracking that even the director of the film John Woo took off his eyes from the monitor. However the hero again did it safely and perfectly making the team relaxed.
